Marcus Rashford wins FWA Tribute Award for 'outstanding work on and off the pitch'
Marcus Rashford has received the Football Writers' Association Tribute Award, an accolade that is given to a person who has made an outstanding contribution to the national game.
In the association's official statement, it's pointed out that Rashford is given the award due to his 'outstanding work on and off the pitch'.
The Man United forward's profile has risen immensely in the past 12 months due to his efforts to fight child hunger and his courage to challenge the UK government to try and solve the problem.
Rashford follows the steps of Sir Alex Ferguson, Sir Bobby Charlton, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Bryan Robson, George Best and many other United stars of the past who also received this award.
Of course, Rashford is not exactly a slouch on the pitch (this season alone, he's scored 14 goals in 28 games in all competitions) but so far, it is his off-the-pitch work that makes him a truly outstanding individual.
