Robert Lewandowski Reveals Readiness To Join Man United
Robert Lewandowski was recently named as FIFA’s The Best Player for 2020 after a stunning season for Bayern Munich and Poland, scoring 59 goals in 53 games.
The 32-year-old has now scored 266 in 307 games for Bayern – showing Manchester United really did miss out in 2012.
Speaking to France Football, the striker said: “After my second year in Dortmund, I had a conversation with Sir Alex Ferguson.
“He wanted me to come to Manchester.
“I was very interested. I can even say I was ready. But Dortmund didn’t want to let me go.
“It didn’t upset me more than that because things were going well with Borussia.”
In the end Fergie turned to Arsenal’s Robin Van Persie to fill the striker’s berth, which didn’t work out too badly.
Lewandowski left Dortmund for Bayern in 2014 on a free transfer.
