Henderson’s Rapid Rise Has Provoked The Debate Of Man Utd’s No.1

Henderson Man Utd's No.1

Dean Henderson replaced David de Gea on Sunday to make his first Manchester United Premier League appearance and the 23-year-old goalkeeper could now force Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to retain him as No 1.

The Norwegian has been dealing with a difficult situation of keeping the upcoming Henderson and established first choice David de Gea both happy.

But the Spaniard’s drop off in form over the past two years coupled with Henderson’s rapid rise has provoked the debate.

Michael Owen believes the cards have fallen perfectly for Solskjaer to make the switch.

“If you are thinking about changing the goalkeeper, this is the time,” the former Red Devils striker told Premier League TV.

“I don’t think Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants confrontation, I don’t think he wants to drop him.

“But in this situation, all of a sudden, ‘hey, you went off injured and he has done nothing wrong’.

“It is the perfect opportunity. If he had any of those thoughts over the last few months when mistakes were made, now is your time.”
