Busquets 1, Lenglet 2: Barcelona players rating in disappointing Cadiz loss
Barcelona’s three-game winning streak in all competitions is over thanks to a 2-1 loss to Cádiz on Saturday night in Spain. Barça had all of the possession but very little creativity to break down an extremely resilient defence from Cádiz, who took their chances and walked away with three giant points to stay in the Top 6. As for Barça, their inconsistencies in the league continue.
Leo Messi — 8
The Argentine was Barcelona's only constant threat in attack, shooting on goal himself and creating chances for his teammates. Messi was heavily involved in our only goal of the game.
Pedri — 7
The youngster entered the pitch in the second half and added the much-needed creativity to the Catalans' game. Ronald Koeman used him as a defensive midfielder and he put in a decent performance.
Frenkie de Jong — 5.5
The Dutchman was decent at best in the first 45 minutes, and then the coach moved him to centre-back. We understand that De Jong isn't a defender but no one should get beaten off the dribble as often as Frenkie did vs Cadiz.
Philippe Coutinho — 5
The Brazilian started the match on the left-wing and didn't impress, to say the least. Coutinho held on the ball too much while most of his one-touch passes were off.
Clement Lenglet — 4
The centre-back wasn't too reliable in the first half and then went on to make a mistake which resulted in Cadiz's second goal of the night. The centre-back failed to control the ball after a simple throw-in.
Others: Ter Stegen — 5.5, Dest — 6.5, Mingueza — 5, Jordi Alba — 6.5, Busquets — 7, Griezmann — 6.5, Braithwaite — 5.5, Dembele — 6.5, Pjanic — n/a, Trincao — n/a.
