Arsenal Chief Edu Gives His Final Verdict On Mikel Arteta Sack
Arsenal have endured a chastening season under Mikel Arteta, with the Gunners amassing just 17 points from their opening 15 top flight matches.
Amid their struggles, the north London giants have been linked with several managers from around the world.
Massimiliano Allegri remains available following his departure from Juventus in 2019, with Thomas Tuchel now on the market having been sacked by Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain on Christmas eve.
And Brendan Rodgers has previously been of interest to Arsenal and, having worked wonders at Leicester, has been tipped to take over.
However, journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed Edu has told agents privately, as well as publicly, that he has no plans to sack Arteta at the current moment in time.
“Arsenal chose for weeks to defend their coach Mikel Arteta,” he wrote for CBS Sports.
“The win against Chelsea has restored serenity and tranquility to a coach in a difficult situation given the recent poor form for the Gunners.
“The board, along with director Edu Gaspar, has reiterated both publicly and privately to the agents they’ve met with the following: They plan to move forward with Arteta as he is the right man for the Arsenal project, and that they don’t intend to change coach at this time.

“A very clear choice that was rewarded given the result against Chelsea. Arteta remains strongly protected by the club.
