You’d be surprised that even winning one trophy is enough for many managers.
After retiring as a player, where he won four consecutive La Liga titles from 1991 to 1994, and also had glory in European Championships with FC Barcelona, Guardiola was appointed as the coach for “Barcelona B” team and later as manager of senior side of FC Barcelona in 2008.
Guardiola is a double UEFA Champions League winner, winning both in his era at his beloved Barcelona, a time when both manager and club were the best in the world by quite some margin.
But in his first season Guardiola won the treble of La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League, following it up with a Super Cup, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup in 2009.
14 trophies in three years at Barcelona signalled to the world his elite managerial credentials.
Guardiola also secured the FIFA Club World Cup in 2011 with Barcelona and with Bayern Munich in 2013.
Although this cup is often overlooked by European clubs it’s the pinnacle of sporting achievement at club level and a particularly prestigious trophy for clubs in South America, well-respected across the world.
As a coach, Guardiola also has three UEFA Super Cups in his cabinet, two at Barcelona (2009, 2011) and one at Bayern Munich (2013).
Guardiola has won six league titles – three each at Barcelona (2008-9, 2009-10, 2010-11) and Bayern Munich (2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16) – and seven domestic cups, five at Barça (Copa Del Rey 2008-9, 2011-12, Supercopa de Espana 2009, 2010, 2011) and two at Bayern (DFB Pokal 2013-14 and 2015-16).
Since joining Manchester City Pep Guardiola has continued to go from strength to strength on the trophy count.
The Spaniard has won eight trophies with Man City since arriving in 2016 – two league titles, the FA Cup (2019), three League Cups (2018, 2019, 2020) and the FA Community Shield on two occasions.
