Man City Move Up Premier League Table By Thrashing Burnley 5-0
Riyad Mahrez scored a hat-trick as Manchester City spanked Burnley 5-0 at Etihad Stadium on Saturday to move up to eighth in the Premier League.
Mahrez swept in an early opener and soon added a second when when he got in behind and drove in off the post.
Benjamin Mendy got his first goal for City with a superb volley to make it 3-0 before half-time.
Ferran Torres opened his Premier League account from close range before Mahrez’s header completed the win.
This was a performance that Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side were back to their attacking best as they looked capable of scoring with every attack.
Burnley, who were without first-choice goalkeeper Nick Pope because of injury, posed very little threat, with Jay Rodriguez’s tame second-half effort straight at Ederson one of their few shots on goal.
