Lampard praises goalkeeper Mendy: 'He showed us what he's there for'
Chelsea boss Lampard has heaped praise on their latest recruit from Rennes as he once again put up a great performance to deny Manchester United all three-point at Old Trafford.
The Senegalese shot-stopper came up with some couple of saves most notably against England striker Marcus Rashfod which earned him praise from his boss.
"His performance was very good. You rely on your goalkeepers in those moments in a tight game, not full of many chances," the manager explained to reporters after the final whistle.
"Rashford's first chance was a mistake from us, the one at the end was a moment of quality from him. He showed us what he is there for.
"We brought him in for his quality. He showed great composure in the games he's played already and with the saves today in a tight you rely on the moments."
Coming into the game against Chelsea Man Utd was full of confidence following the win against PSG in Paris so the came into the game with great momentum at the back of a 2-1 in France but the heroic of Mendy made sure the blues went back to the Bridge with a point.
