Frank Lampard reason for a different approach versus Man United

Following Chelsea 0-0 draw at Old Trafford Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard gave the reason behind the tweak in his formation against the reds.

Lampard opted for 3-4-3 formation exactly the same formation with veteran defender Thiago Silva at the heart of Chelsea defence the same tactics he used to get the better of his counterpart who before the game has won three out of both teams previous 4 meetings while Chelsea won just once in the FA Cup semi-final 

"It's a tight start to the season and I think this is just a continuation of that. It was in the final third we lacked today but the clean sheet was a big plus for us," Frank Lampard told BBC Match of the Day.

"Sometimes we want to be flexible, we looked at Manchester United and we had games last season we were the better team but lost to them on the counter-attack.

"Thiago Silva adds quality and we must appreciate that side of the game. There's no doubt we need experienced heads around young players and you saw that today. He demands the right things around him, so we're happy."
