Anthony Martial Speaks On Threats Messages Received From Cavani
Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani will be competing with Anthony Martial for a place in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s attack.
And the French forward has insisted he doesn’t feel threatened by the arrival at Manchester United of the Uruguayan.
Cavani, 33, produced an impressive cameo appearance in Red Devils’ goalless draw with Chelsea last weekend.
Martial has still to score in nine appearances for both club and country this season.
The France international has struggled to find his best form and has been suspended for United’s recent games following his red card in the 6-1 drubbing from Tottenham earlier this month.
But the 24-year-old believes the arrival of Cavani is a “positive” – despite the new forward threatening his place in the side.
Martial insists he is focusing on his own form as he prepares to return to United’s side for the Champions League group clash with RB Leipzig tomorrow night.
He believes the Uruguayan international can help him reach a higher and more consistent level.
“I still haven’t scored yet this season,” the Frenchman said. “But I know that as and when I get off the mark with one, everything will be fine.
“So, it’s down to me to keep putting in a big effort in training and to then show everybody the real Anthony Martial.”
