4 Barcelona players who should be benched following El Clasico disgrace
Following Barcelona loss to Real Madrid in the El Clasico we decided to take a look at some players who are no longer worthy starters considering the fact that they have lost two games in a row and these players look like they are not improving.
Clement Lenglet
We could blame the ref 24/7 for that penalty call but it won't clear Lenglet's reputation of being an average centre-back when it comes to marking the opposition players. The Frenchman is now more known as an avid shirt holder but not as a quality central defender.
Who could be his replacement in the starting XI? Too easy, either Ronald Araujo or Samuel Umtiti.
Sergio Busquets
It's becoming very possible that this is Sergio's last season at Barca. Busquets' defensive ability is no longer there, as well as his pace which turned out to be a big problem in yesterday's game.
Giving more game time to Miralem Pjanic and playing him alongside Frenkie de Jong is now starting to make real sense.
Frenkie de Jong
Yesterday's game proved that Ronald Koeman should certainly think of being tactically flexible. It's almost impossible to win everything while playing with one formation throughout the whole season.
This is why benching inconsistent De Jong makes sense, especially when there're Riqui Puig and Carles Alena patiently waiting for the first-team chances on the bench.
Gerard Pique
Although he's not the worst player on our backline, Pique at least needs some rest at times. Luckily, he won't be present in the Juventus game and his spot will possibly be taken by Ronald Araujo.
