Barcelona eager to break 5-year Celta Vigo home curse

The Catalans travel to Vigo on Thursday night with a clear task ahead of them.

Barcelona continue with their quest to bring back the La Liga crown as they face Celta away on Thursday night.

Here is why the Catalans will be more than hungry for a win at their cursed ground.

Barcelona haven't won at Celta's Balaidos stadium for more than 5 years already.

Their last victory dates back to April 5, 2015.

Back then, a certain Jeremy Mathieu netted the winner - the French defender moved to Sporting CP and retired from football since then.

The Catalans have faced Celta away 5 times in La Liga and once in the Copa del Rey since Mathieu's winning goal.

They've suffered 3 defeats and managed 3 draws during this run.

Even though Barca haven't won, they've failed to score at the Balaidos just once, in the 2-0 defeat on the final day of the 2018-2019 campaign.

In total, the Blaugrana side have registered nine aways goals against Celta since April 2015 with 3 of them assisted by Leo Messi.
