Super Eagles star suffers fresh injury blow
Just when you thought his injury nightmares are over, Super Eagles and Denilizspor of Turkey combative midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has cupped yet another knock.
Onazi suffered the latest setback when he was introduced in the 46th minute into Monday’s Turkish Super Lig tie between Sivasspor and his club Denilizspor.
The Nigeria international played for barely 13th minute before suffering another unfortunate injury again.
Onazi joined Denizlispor during the winter transfer window in January from Trabzonspor in an 18 months deal after recovering from a career-threatening injury.
The game ended 1-0 in favour of Sivasspor.
Before Monday’s outing, Onazi in an exclusive chat with FCNaija had outlined his intention to lift Denizlispor and by extension work his way back to the Super Eagles.
He said:” I’m determined to succeed at Denizlispor by the special grace of God. I really thank the club for the opportunity to play again.
“Yes, we can’t wait to start up the league and finish it. We are ready and fit for the league.
Before moving to Turkey, Onazi was at capital club, Lazio.
He was part of victorious Nigeria’s Super Eagles team that emerged champions of Africa in South Africa in 2013 and also made the squad to the last World Cup in Russia even though he never played any minute.
