Madrid set €60m asking price by Rennes for young midfield star Camavinga

Real Madrid have had a €60m asking price confirmed by Rennes for their 17-year-old midfield wonderkid Eduardo Camavinga.

According to Mundo Deportivo on Wednesday, Real boss Zinedine Zidane is well aware of Camavinga's potential in part because of the footballing contacts he has back in his home country.

Camavinga has underlined his super potential in his breakthrough season in the 2019-20 campaign.

Before the season was halted due to the coronavirus outbreak, Camavinga made 33 appearances for the Ligue 1 club, scoring once. Camavinga also made his first appearance for the France Under 21 squad.

With the asking price now seemingly confirmed, Zidane will be hoping that his Rennes counterpart, Julien Stephan, will soften his stance over the transfer.

The Rennes manager has been quite insistent that the 17-year-old should have another season of regular football in France before leaving to a club of Real's calibre.

'I always give him advice to stay one more season at Rennes because it is his training club,' Stephan said in an interview with Spanish publication AS on Wednesday. The have the interview on their front page, with the headline 'Camavinga's conditions to play for Madrid'.

Stephan added: 'After a good season, that quality leap must always be confirmed and it would be easier for him to do it here. I think he has one or two stages left before making the jump for a big one.

'There is a difference between being able to play a high-level season at your training club and being able to play about 60 games per campaign at a giant club every three days.

'It already makes a big difference, but he has a couple of steps to take to establish himself in a top club. Following his progression he has the potential and all the qualities required to settle in a top club one day.'
